The images made for the “Ritchie” series come from the development of my “Pixellation” work where I have reduced imagery down to a basic pattern, then enlarged the individual pixels to large areas and bombed them with the colour spectrums which they share with their neighbouring pixels.

This in turn creates a whole new relationship between one colour and the next, in fact enRitching (!) each colour square. This fattening of colour then produces wonderful balances of abstraction that stand individually as a work of art. The series is based on a cover drawing from a “Ritchie Rich” comic book and if one was to piece all the series together then stand back quite a distance, the whole collection would form the image from that comic book.
